A nude car wash offering an X-rated sideshow and topless cleaning in Australia's tropical Queensland state has been given the all-clear after police and officials said they were powerless to scrub it.
The Bubbles 'n' Babes car wash in Brisbane prompted a flood of complaints with a topless car wash for $55 and a nude car wash with X-rated lap-dance service for $100. "If it was approved for a car wash then I can't imagine how we can stop them," Lord Mayor Campbell Newman told a council meeting with worried local lawmakers. Who would have thought a car wash could be so controversial?
Granted, it offers topless and nude washes with an x-rated show thrown in for a few extra dollars, but the media and moralistic frenzy sparked in its first few months of operation has been spectacular.
Business is booming at Bubbles ‘n’ Babes, in Brisbane’s inner north, and has ruffled the conservative feathers the city swore it did not have.
They say it is good money and good fun and they are contemptuous of suggestions their work is degrading.
“The thing is, there’s two brothels around the corner and there’s touching, there’s sex going on, everything else,” a miffed Summer, 25.

They say it is good money and good fun and they are contemptuous of suggestions their work is degrading. “They come here, they get a car wash; they’re not allowed to touch us, they’re not allowed to do anything, so what’s the difference?”
“From three months of fruit-picking I got the same amount of money I can earn in three days here,” Isabelle said.“The most I earned in one day was $735 and of course it’s not like that all the time, but it is still much better than waitressing.”
